Fly Tying “Coho Crack”

This is about as close as a fly can get to looking like a vibrax, which is good, because vibraxes work better. I’m an asshole, just so you know.

Very cool! If this is a fly that rides on the bottom with the hook up then it should have a down turned eye or no turn.

  2. livermore11 says:

I guess so. And thanks dude.

Good on you. Most people apologize and conform. Anyways, nice tying, Looks like it would catch its fair share. Good video, 5 stars.

  4. livermore11 says:

Right-on. Yeah, in southeast AK. Should I catch a steelhead today or a king salmon? What a tuffie ;)

  5. livermore11 says:

Hey buddy thanks alot for coming back a year later to tell me that AGAIN. In case you didn’t get this before, I don’t give a fuck about how it is ’supposed’ to be. It’s just a fly dude. it rides hook gap down anyway. I don’t fish it, and this video was not about a fly, but having fun with my camera. Get over it dude! And go fuck youself ;) Whew.

  6. EFISHANT says:

You don’t use a salmon hook that way – unless you are an idiot. The hook has an up- word eye and a specific bend – thus it is meant to ride hook down!

    What a bunch of hillbillies!

  7. MClown69 says:

he tied the barbells like that so its hook point up tard

  8. MClown69 says:

I’m loving the striper right now, living in southern Cal for the time being. I’m float tubing it on Silverwood Lake. Trout plants are starting up so the hawgs will be coming out from the deep.

  12. livermore11 says:

God I miss catching stripers. King salmon have nothing, and I mean nothing, on Morone saxatilis. Fuck king salmon. Do it up.

  13. redshaftedflicker says:

A green or a pearl body tied the same way looks like it would kill stripers. I like the simple tie due to my skill level and for more time on the water. I might even experiment with a spinner blade on the front of this one.

    prison sex :)

  15. livermore11 says:

great job on editing that vid!

That my friend is a $24 vice. I have no idea what kind. A no-name prob. It was a big step up from my original, $12 vice. Which worked fine. BassPro is wicked slow shipping to Alaska, I hear you. Cabelas is fast as shit.

  18. livermore11 says:

    it’s Prison Sex. thanks.

  19. ManVsWildfan says:

that’s a basspro supreme rotary vise right? I have the same one……it took them over a month to deliver it to me but it was worth it

I ain’t your pal, partner. And isn’t that a little bit like what’s going on right here. Your a little touchy but I see i made some progress.

  22. livermore11 says:

I will. I’m 99% sure it rides gap down already tho. I don’t fish this fly very often anyway. And check this: I just took a sz 2 looped eye gammie out of the package, and put a swivel through the eye. I then hooked it up to a stout leader and stuck the hook on the door of my stove. I could not, pulling as hard as i friggin could, get that loop to even begin to straighten out. No salmonid could put that much pressure on a fly rod. You had me thinking tho! And I do appreciate your input.

  23. EFISHANT says:

Serioiusly; try tying it with the eyes tied on the underside of the hook – and move them back – at least to where the hinge ends so you can do enough proper wraps around the eye hinge! It will make the fly ride hook gap down – the way a salmon hook should! The eye will be stronger too!

  24. EFISHANT says:

Owned? by you? Not hardley pal! And yes, we do tease each other unmercelessly about our flies. The commraderie of men is based on mutual abuse! When you grow up maybe you’ll understand!

  25. deepin2thebacking says:

Dickness: Tendency to for aging fly fisherman to compensate for failing libido by assailing fellow anglers with false superiority and pedantic attention to tying minutia. Look man, when you tied your first custom flies did anyone go out of their way to tell you they looked gay and lecture about Bob Clouser? Your conceit is at least as offensive as my vulgarity. Oh and……
    you got owned bitch! (parlance)
